some days I don't even feel like I can walk and the more I am on the knee/leg it is worse. kneeling is impossible.
You have arthritis but may have also another damage.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HealthcareMagic,
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.
From what you are describing your knee might have more than just arthritis.
The hyperextension trauma or any of the injuries may have caused a ligament or meniscus tear, otherwise, it would have been healed for that one year. Only an MRI will be able to tell for sure where exactly the damage is.
Of course, after all these injuries at your age (even more possible if you are overweight too), you may have arthritis too, but the acute pain you are feeling is not just arthritis.
Continue taking Advil regularly 3 times/day for another 2-3 days because not only it decreases the pain but also the inflammation. So this is how I would advise you to use it unless you have any contraindication.
Apply locally ice/heat- whichever feels most soothing.
Keep moving the knee passively and walk when possible so you can keep the range of motion.
Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.
Regards,
