How Can Excessive Productive Cough And Headache Be Treated?
Question: I have had a cough and headache for three days. Coughing a lot, bringing up some green mucus. My concern is my husband is immune suppressed. I rarely get colds but this is a doozie.

Nasal congestion,high fever, especially when lasting more than 3 days,sinus pain,etc.
You may find relief for Cough,Cold and headache by taking Cough expectorant (like Ambroxol),Oral Decongestant (like Phenylephrine) and Nasal Decongestant (like Xylometazoline) if you are not suffering from hypertension, Analgesic (like Ibuprofen) with Antacid (like Rantac), Antihistaminic(like Cetirizine) and a Saline Nasal Spray.
You may need to start oral Antibiotic after consulting your Physician/ENT doctor, if you're having the symptoms discussed above, as they're suggestive of a bacterial infection.
Also do steam inhalation. Avoid cold and very sweet food as it increases mucus production.
Drink lots of fluids(warm) as it helps in breaking of secretions. Avoid dust, smoke and other pollutants.
The infection may spread by sneezing or coughing.You should take more care as your husband in immune-suppressed. Use disposable tissue/napkin to cover your face when sneezing or coughing to avoid transmitting the infection, and always wash your hands thoroughly with anti-bacterial solution afterwards.
