How Can Lip Vitiligo Be Treated?
Question: I have lip biting habit since childhood. I see my lips more pinkish now. They may be like that since beginning but I could see the pinkishness more pronounced. It may be due to the other area of the lips darker. I have attached pics of my lips. Could you please check and let me know what could have happened and what should I do now.

I am Dr.. kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have viewed the images.
You have lip vitiligo. Vitiligo is a condition which presents as depigmented patches on various body sites. It can also Involve the mucosal surfaces such as lip, gentalia etc.
I suggest you to use tacrolimus 0.1% solution (tacroz forte 0.1% solution), twice daily and mometasone furoate 0.1% ointment(momate ointment)once at night.

hi sir, will this spread to other parts or it will be localised to lips. what can be done to arrest this and stop spreading and eliminate it completely
Brief Answer:
Regarding lip vitiligo
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Whether vitiligo will spread or not cannot be predicted. If it has stayed like this for years then most likely it will not spread. Though lip vitiligo is quite resistant to treatment however for localized stable lip vitiligo such as this topical therapies like tacrolimus and mometasone can be tried initially to see how they work. If they dont work then surgical options like autologous melanocyte culture and grafting can be considered. Treatment options like oral steroids can be considered only if vitiligo is spreading or new patches are forming.
