Most likely recurrent Enteritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
I am a Gastroenterologist and would be answering your query.
As per the description given by you Your symptoms refer mostly to recurrent acute gastroenteritis (infection of bowels). - For the time being, I'd suggest to drink more water, Take probiotics like VSL#3 twice daily,
to stop diarrhea i would suggest you to take OTC imodium upto 16 mg per day in divided doses.
Oral rehydration salts (O.R.S) should be taken one glass a day for rehydration.
A therapy with APack(Azithromycin) and Metronidazole 400 thrice for 5 days should be taken. However if the problem still persist and diarrhea etc do not have any improvement , then, should go for some more investigations to identify the real culprit. I'd suggest, then, to do an abdominal ultrasound, fecal examination for ova/parasites, feces occult blood, leucocytes in feces, and complete blood profile.
As per colonoscopy and cancer is concerned after the age of 50, it is recommended that all people should have a colonoscopy every 5-10 years. Even if you have had this test in the last 5 years it might be recommended to repeat it.
Cancer usually present with chronic recurrent symptoms so initially we should treat it for 5 days as Enteritis however if things remain the same we should proceed with further investigations.
Hope it answered to your question!
