How Can Severe Loose Stools In A Child Be Treated?
Question: Hello doctor ,
My 16 month old daughter had got fever and lose motions about 15 days back. That time the doctor had suspected it as viral and gave sporlac, ORS and zinc drops . No antibiotic was prescribed . Her condition improved but not completely recovered .
Since 2-3 days , she again has loose motions and now slight fever is also there . She is doing 4-6 motions in a day and one vomit . Yesterday the color of motion was whitish .
Last few days there was a contaminated water supply in our area , due to which many kids in the area had stomach infection with vomiting .please prescribe a medicine for her .
Also my 7.5 yrs old son is having loose motions . He is doing 3-4 morons in a day. He couldn't control yesterday and passed a little in his underpants in school . He is not having food properly .was complaining of constant stomach pain few days back .please suggest .
Thanks , XXXX

Brief Answer:
Just continue the previous medicines
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. The same treatment that was given a fortnight back should be continued. Your doctor's treatment was proper and the same would apply for the current episode. ORS and proper hydration would be the mainstay of treatment. Antibiotics need not be given unless there is bloody stool and the same medicines should suffice.
Let me know if I could help further.
