How Can Severe Stomach Pain Along With Extreme Chills Be Treated?

default
Posted on Wed, 6 Sep 2017
Question: I have had severe stomach pain for about 8 weeks - I have had a colonoscopy and there is diviculitis. I have had this condition is fact for a few years but never had any real pain - just occasional discomfort. I have had two lots of antibiotics and there does not seem to be any infection. I also seem to be feeling a little unsteady at times and chilly even in warm weather. I have had a number of strong painkillers (eg tramadol) and some mild anti-depressants (Amitriptyline, Mirtazapine and Mebeverine) in last week to 10 days. There are times when the pain creeps round to the left side of my back and in to my ribs.

Brief Answer:
Get a stool test done

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for query.
Have gone through your details and i appreciate your concerns.
Chills are suggestive of residual bacterial infection in body.Chills are there when there are some bacterias left in body.
Mild off and on pain is also suggestive of residual infection.
I would suggest you to get a stool microscopy test done,If the test reveals that mild infection still persists a culture and sensitivity test should be done to see the level of sensitivity of bacterium to class of antibiotic administered,
A 14 days oral or 7 days i.v followed by 7 days oral therapy should be started accordingly.once the acute phase settles down. Severe and drastic life style modificatory changes have to be followed by patient for many months to avoid recurrent attacks.

Regards
