How Can Tinea Cruris Be Treated?

default
Posted on Wed, 21 Jun 2017
Question: I have some type of jock itch that has been with me for over a year and a half. I contracted it while on a hunting trip. We were staying in a un-sanitary farm house for over a week with minimal showering in water that had a smell of hydrogen sulfide. I have tried every over the counter med. for jock itch.
Also been prescribed: 10 days of anti-biotic -Mometasone/Furoate - Clotrimazole/Betamethasone Dipropionate - Fluocinonide(cream).05% - Ketoconazole.
We have also changed the laundry soap.
Can't seem to find the solution to this problem.

Brief Answer:
Oral and plain topical antifungals

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have gone through your complaints.
All the medicines you have mentioned contain steroid antifungal combination and that's why the infection is not getting cured permanently.
Steroids provide only temporary relief but never allow the infection to get cured.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to take oral and topical antifungals.
I would recommend you to take tablet terbinafine 250 mg once daily and apply plain antifungal like sertaconazole cream on the affected areas twice daily for 3-4 weeks.
For itching take tablet cetrizine 10 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.
These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
