Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query in HealthcareMagic,

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern,

Tinea versicolor is a skin disease caused by fungus growing on the skin. It is usually characterised by the appearance of hypo or hyper pigmented spots over the skin. Recurrence can happen when ideal conditions are provided for the fungus to grow again. There have been many cases where this condition has been treated successfully, but in some cases, recurrence may occur frequently.

I would suggest you to do the following which will help to prevent the recurrences:

- Avoid using oily skin products.
- Reduce your exposure to the sun. Exposure to the sun may trigger or worsen an episode, and a XXXXXXX makes the rash more visible.
- If you have to go out in the sun, consider using an anti-fungal shampoo daily for a couple of days prior to sun exposure.
- Put on sunscreen every day. Use a non-greasy formula with a minimum sun protection factor (SPF) of 30.
- Do not wear tight clothing.
- Wear breathable fabrics, such as cotton, to decrease sweating.

You can also consider discussing with your treating doctor about the option of starting selenium sulfide lotion, which has been proved to treat successfully as per reports. Although it is controversial to start no oral antifungals, you can also discuss this option with your treating physician.

I hope I have answered your query,

Regards

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back,

I'm extremely sorry for my delay in replying back,

Selenium sulfide lotions are available under the many trade names, but I would strongly advise you to discuss about using this with your treating doctor.

Yes, oral anifungals are available; you can take fluconazole or clotrimazole once weekly. But since this is a prescription drug, you need to get it prescribed by your treating doctor.

I hope this helps,

Regards
