Common
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mechel,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Though there always is a possibility of FDG extravasation at the injection site, there is medical literature where there was FDG activity at the injection site which in fact was due to metastases.
You may see the link below for details:

Attached are the photos of pet scan and the fdg uptake i have never had the injection site reactive before on 3 previous scans. Is this site a possibility of a lymph node? Any ideas on what it could be would be appreciated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mechel,
Thanks for writing in with an update.
I still feel it can be extravasation of FDG below the skin. However, detailed approach is important as no finding should be taken for granted.
The images show the increased FDG in the region just below the skin. It is clearly away from the bone. I would like to clinically examine the area by palpation as should it be a lymph node then it will be felt. Since its not involving the bone, a much simple approach I would do is perform an ultrasound scan of the injection area.
Hope your query is answered.
