default
Posted on Mon, 11 Jan 2016
Question: I am currently 38 weeks pregnant with my third child- no history of gestational diabetes or hypertension. 2 prior vaginal deliveries 4yrs ago and 2yrs ago. Very nervous about dying for I have read about amniotic fluid entering the blood stream and causing a high mortality rate.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
You are fearing about amniotic fluid embolism, which is the entering of the amniotic fluid in the blood stream and it causes high mortality.
However, amniotic fluid embolism is a very very rare condition which occurs in patients suffering from abdominal trauma, or placental abruption, polyhydramnios and rarely in pre eclampsia.
You have none of these conditions and no high risk factors.
I suggest you not to worry at all, considering you had previous uneventful deliveries.
I suggest you to remove this fear from your mind, enjoy the pregnancy and delivery.
I hope you all the best.
