How Does Warfarin Interact With Vitamin K?
Question: I had a heart valve replacement not mechanical had a fib and was on warfarin for nearly 8 months wore a moniter for a week a few months after the surgery because it looked like I could come off my meds,,,then was told to stay on and consult another dr who was specialized just in a fib I did not have a problem with my BP but my cholesterol went up significantly I am going for more blood work tomorrow but was told since I DID not have heart disease liver problems I am 68 never smoked anyway I am off the warfarin but wonder if for awhile I still need to be careful of the K foods I know I can have them later down the road but how about now I have been off for just 4 days?

The problem with consuming too much foods rich in Vit K while you are on Warfarin ,is the interaction between Vit K and the drug that will make Warfarin less effective.
