How Does One Decrease The Dosage Of MiraLax While On Amitiza For Gastroparesis?
Question: I have gastroparesis. I am taking amitiza but need help to keep things moving through my intestines. It takes a long time from beginning to end. ( a week or more) I am trying to augment the amitiza with Miralax but it is now too much. How should I cut back. e.g. half doses every day or one capful every other day????

I am taking 25mcg of amitiza per day. Currently I am taking 1 capful of Miralax every other day. My doctor recommended 1 capful every day... but that was too much... because my stools were very loose. They are still very loose, although I changed to every other day 5 days ago.
I cannot judge how long it will take to notice the effects of the change. Will it be immediately or a week or so...???
I feel gassy and a little crampy. I am only passing small stools, but they are rather frequent. 5-6 times today... slightly formed....

Hi,
I recomemnd you stop miralax for now. Only resume when your stools have returned to normal. When you do resume, take half a cup every other day and only increase if your stool get hard or you have constipation.
