How Effective Is Genzar In Treatment Of Bladder Cancer?
Question: my husband had his first (of 6) BCG treatment after removal of cancer in bladder. He got terrible infection and wound up with sepsis. he has been on Amoxicillin and Clavulanate for 3 weeks. The doctor wants to give him Gemzar for chemo bladder wash. What are the side effects and how promising is this treatment.
Much of the tumor was low grade but some high grade areas measuring 2.2 x 2.0 x 0.4cm weight 1 gram

Thanks for query .Your husband has cancer of bladder and has undergone TURBT followed by intra vasical BCG infiltration which landed him in Urosepsis.
The Gemzar which is an cytotoxic chemotherapeutic drug is used ain many centers for various cancers in body .
Like other anti cancerous drug 30-40% of patents do get side effects like
Fever ,headache ,fatigue,vomiting ,loss of hair and fall in WBC count etc which subside once the cycle of the drug is stopped and can be managed symptomatically.
There is no harm in going for iy as advised by your Oncologist.
