Question: I think I have Angular Cheilitis and I was wondering what the best way to treat that would be. I have been using clotrimazole and it was almost gone but then it just flamed up again and getting just as bad as it was originally. I have now had it for almost 3 months.
I had it on my right side of my lips the 1st time about 4 months ago. it only was there about two weeks. after that it was clear for about 3 weeks until I got this one on the left side. it just seems like it will never go away.
and the current one on the left side is the one I've had for 3 months. I have also had 2 staph infections about 15 years ago and 12 years go. my mom thinks that may have something to do with it if that helps in any way.
Brief Answer:
Herpes testing; topical steroid addition

Hi there.
I have seen your attached jpg file & read your brief but clear history.
Might I suggest addition of a mild topical steroid cream eg Kenalog orabase to the regime for 3-5 days.
Also since it is recurrent, may I recommend doing a blood test at your nearest laboratory for herpes IgG & IgM testing for herpes virus1&2.
In my experience, viral infections such as herpes may be pesky & overlooked in such cases.
Once you have the results, either you will have crossed off a possibility off your list or you will have a treatable cause; Antivirals with a doctor's prescription are the way forward if it turns out positive.
Good Luck & hope I have given you some direction to sorting your problem.

I was actually just checked for all stds (pap and blood tested) twice in the last 8 months for unrelated issues I was having after I gave birth to my daughter and it was all negative. Is it possible it didn't show on the test? should I still ask to be tested again?
Brief Answer:
Yes please Herpes testing for IgG/IgM 1&2
Detailed Answer:
Yes please ..just for the herpes tests that I suggested; Usually when one screens for STD's, the screening tests' may not pick up specific viruses & certainly not accurate. Am not suggesting an STD; just a viral infection with herpes that can be transmitted through any form of contact.
