Hi,

Thanks for your query

You are having "Chronic Kidney disease" which is slowly progressive and stable for a long time, however acute components like high blood pressure, infections (any where in the body, however mild they are), dehydration, drugs etc. can effect the diseased kidney much rapidly compared to the healthy kidney.

There is nothing surprising that your throat infection has raised the creatinine; however it will be of short duration and transient. So repeat your creatinine a week after complete disappearance of symptoms and see.

Hopefully it should go back to its original level of 3-4mg/dl or slightly higher than that. Repeated such incidents can rapidly deteriorate the kidney function to a ground level function.

Hence it is important to monitor renal functions frequently whenever such a situation arises and also avoid those acute insults to the kidney; so that kidney function remains stable for a very long period.

Hope this answer is both reassuring and adequate. Should you have any additional queries, I will be available to answer them.
