How Is Tuberculosis Transmitted?
Get a Chest X Ray done
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms XXXXXXX
The chance of transmission of Tuberculosis to you is higher than the general population as you are close contact. Your husband is Sputum positive : individuals exposed to open case have chance of getting the disease.
Your symptoms could be possibly be more likely to be due to asthma. Even then Tuberculosis has to be ruled out , more so if your symptoms have been running more longer than usual. I would suggest you the following
1. Chest X Ray PA view
2. Sputum for AFB examination especially if you are bringing up sputum.
I hope your husband has been Started on Anti-tubercular treatment (ATT). Within 2 weeks of starting of ATT, an individual becomes non infective.
Do get back to me if you need any assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Take Care

One positive sample is sufficient to start treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Even One confirmed positive sputum sample for Mycobacterium Tuberculosis is sufficient to initiate therapy (Anti-tubercular treatment). We repeat the tests on other sample when the initial samples are negative. You should contact his treating doctor.
