Is Mycobacterium The Cause For Not Getting Pregnant?
My wife 27 yrs old 57kg & 5.4ft is suffering from Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex in menstrual blood. Is it communicable ? Is this a reason for not conceived yet ? Dr. prescribed TAB AKT 4, Zanocim 200mg and Dupheston 10mg. What is your comment on these medicines ?
Hi, I have gone through your question. Mycobacterial tuberculosis infection in the menstrual blood is indicative of tuberculosis infection if the uterine lining. In this condition, the conception and pregnancy is very unlikely as the bacteria leads to improper functioning of the uterine endometrium. Your wife needs to complete the antitubercular treatment as prescribed by your doctor. AKT 4 contains 4 antitubercular drugs, Zanocin contains Ofloxacin and they are to be taken accordingly. Duphastone is progesterone which supports the pregnancy by making uterine environment more favourable for conception. However, I would suggest your wife to complete antitubercular drugs before trying for conception as these drugs affect the fetus. I would not recommend progesterone intake with antitubercular drugs. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr Deepti verma
