Question: Hello, I am almost 39 and trying to conceive a 3rd child. It's been difficult or just bad timing. My last menstrual was march 29 leading to ovulation around 11 or 12th of April with period due April 26, it didn't show. This morning I have some spotting but no heavy period yet. My partner and I did have inter course the 8th of April and 10th of April which to my understanding should have led to concaption. Can you help me with understanding what's going on and how I can concieve

Brief Answer:
Can be implantation bleeding.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Today you had just a mild spotting. This could be implantation bleeding. If the spotting has stopped then it is best to wait for a few days and then test the urine for pregnancy. The chances of conception are there.
In case the bleeding increases then it is your impending period. In that case you will have to try again in the next cycle. You can time the intercourse according to your days of ovulation to increase the chances of conception.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Well it has since gotten heavier so I know it's period now. But for me I was almost certain it would happen. Can you tell me what I can do at age 39 to help increase and become pregnant for sure. Is there anything you think might be wrong as to why it's not happening? I have has children before last being 9 yes ago but I didn't think I would have an issue still. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Can be due to many causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The failure to conceive even after a proper ovulation can be due to a uterine infection or poor ovarian response or lack of proper sperm penetration.
You can start with acid & vitamin E supplements with healthy diet.
Do some basic things also to improve fertility:
1) Avoid stress by yoga/deep breathing regularly (20-30 times).
2) Drink plenty of fluids/water and eat leafy vegetables & fruits.
3) Control body weight by regular physical exercise.
4) Maintain personal hygiene and need proper sleeping.
Basically pregnancy depends on proper timing of ovulation & unprotected sex. Do try for next few cycles and if unsuccessful then do consult an infertility specialist for detailed evaluation.
Hope my answer is helpful.

Any vitamins you recommend. I do not feel I am over weight but definitely do not drink enough water and exercise moderately. Is it common to have problems even after 2 successful pregnancy? Also I was told to try monks root or vitex as it may be called. What do you suggest?

Brief Answer:
Start with Folic acid and Vitamin E.

Detailed Answer:
You can start with folic acid and Vitamin E supplement. The problem may happen even after 2 successful pregnancies although it is less common. The efficacy of monk's root in increasing the fertility is not proven clinically. So it is difficult to commit that it will be beneficial.

Ok so your suggest a pre natal vitamin and vitamin e as well?? And don't use the monk pepper? Maybe we are not timing this right now the money but it seems my cycles are pretty regular 27 to 28 days.I ama frustrated now and again worried as I get older it won't happen.

Brief Answer:
Chances of conception are there.

Detailed Answer:
It is good to take Vitamin E as well. Please dont worry. The chances of conception are there. Since your cycles are regular there is no need to worry. It takes planned relationships in 4-5 cycles to conceive spontaneously.
All the best.
