How Long Am I Contagious While Suffering From Conjunctivitis?
Question: I have conjunctivitis, stuffy nose with bleeding, sore throat. I am on medication for conjunctivitis. What else can I do and how long am I contagious with the conjunctivitis?
Brief Answer:
you'll be contagious for as long as you have symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
your description sounds like a viral infection, although I cannot be certain about that.
Infectivity is reduced when the symptoms are gone. You've got to remember though that conjunctivitis can be infective to your close contacts only. It's usually not transmitted without close contact. Nobody should use your towels and you should also avoid close contact with anybody. Since you also have respiratory symptoms (stuffy nose, sore throat), you should try to avoid being in the same room with healthy individuals or at least try to bring fresh air in the room every so often.
Kind Regards!

Brief Answer:
allergy may occur with a very small quantity of an allergen
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
if you've had a serious allergic reaction in the past, then I would advise you to avoid it because even the smallest quantity of an allergen may cause the reaction to reoccur. If you haven't seen an ophthalmologist then you should do it as soon as possible!
I don't believe that the drops will make it worse, I'm more concerned about the allergy and the red eyes. Your description probably indicates a viral illness, which means that antibiotics won't make it better, but I can't exclude that your eye problem needs treatment (either antibacterial-antiviral or anti-inflammatory).
