Detailed Answer:
hi.
thanks for posting query at HCM.

your grandson is very strong to fight Crohn disease at this age and i wish him speedy recovery alongwith good and sound health thereafter.

Humira is a biological drug that binds to Tumor Necrosis Factor (alpha). TNF is a inflammatory mediator especially in autoimmune diseases. Binding of Humira to TNF reduces the inflammatory response caused by TNF.

Treating physicians may have advised to initiate "Humira" ;as steroids treatment might NOT have brought the desired results.

Humira dosage is usually adjusted according to patient age as well as to keep the side effects to minimum ( or to avoid side effects completely).

time frame varies from person to person and case to case. However, humira is usually administered from few weeks to few months depending on the outcome of the disease ( Crohn disease in the present case).

wish the child speedy recovery.

hope to answer your concern.
any further questions are welcomed.

regards
