Hello,
Thanks for contacting HCM with your question.
You mention that you were diagnosed with Crohn's but we
need to know a little more details. For example Crohn's can
affect the last part of the
small intestine, part of the large
bowel or could affect all of the large bowel or skip portions
of the small bowel. The disease can also affect the stomach,
esophagus, mouth, ano rectal area etc. Complications are
many. These might include skin, eye, joints. Bleeding, strictures
or narrowing, fistula or abnormal communication between the
bowel and skin outside can occur. It is also important to know
that there is no cure for this as of today. But we can control the
disease or keep it in remission where you can be symptom free
by using various medications. These include Mesalamine preparations,
cortico-steroids, immune modulators and Biological agents such
as
tumor necrosis factor blocking agents. Some of these include
Infliximab,
Adalimumab,Certolizumab,
Etanercept .
These are very effective drugs but have serious side effects and
close monitoring is needed . You need to get in touch with a
gastroenterologist who can completely assess your condition with
appropriate blood, x-rays, endoscopy etc before putting you
on treatment.
I wish you well.
