Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

Cardiomyopathy, in your case is most probably due to Post Viral sequelle.

Currently, there is Severe LV Dysfunction with EF ~ 15 %.

It is difficult to quantify in time duration, the length of survival in such patients. However, its mentioned that people who have severe LV Dysfunction, the 5 year survival is nearly 20 - 30 %.

If you have Pacemaker or Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator inserted, then, the 5 year survival rates increase to nearly 60 %.

What is more common is frequent hospital admissions for recurrent pulmonary edema and heart failure.

You mentioned that he has a Defibrillator inserted. I am sure this will help in prolonging his survival.

He will need a close supervision with close monitoring of his medicines and diet to see that he does not develop any decompensation.

Hope this answers your query.

Please get back if you need any further information.

Thanks and Regards,

Dr Kiran
