Question: I was diagnosed with chalmydia in September my fiance and I both got our treatment and waited the two weeks to have sex like we were told. I went back for my recheck in December and I still had it. So we both got re-treated again and were told to.wait 3 weeks. Now neither of us are cheating because we work the same schedule at the same facility and same floor so we're always together. How come the chlamydia was not treated the first time, and what are the chances of me or him still having it now. The first time I and 2nd time I had the week long two a day doxy cyclin. the first time he had the one time dose of azithromyacin, 2nd time he was given 14 says worth of doxy cyclin 2 pills a day.. he did finger me once after I finished my antibioticS his hands were clean because he litterly got up an washed them right before he did it..... could that still reinfect me??? We started having sex a little before the 3 week time frame was up but we decided to use condoms this time unlike last time ..... could I still be infected because of that ???

Brief Answer:
A prolonged course of antibiotics needed for a total cure for Chlamydia.

Hi,

Thanks for posting your query

The clean appearance of hand or mere washing are not guaranteed that the hands are free from bacteria. But fortunately STD causing bacteria are not surviving outside the body for not more than few seconds. So fingering does not cause re-infection. Similarly protected sex before the stipulated 3 weeks time is also not infectious to cause a re-infection.
But the recent schedule of antibiotics for a week time or a single dose of Azithromycin fails to cure completely. As per the older recommendation of 100 mg of Doxycyclin twice a day for 2 weeks assures a total cure for Chlamydia infection.
