Question: How long do adverse side effects last from taking Atorvastatin? I took it for two weeks, and got really bad side effects. Swollen face, severe stomach pain, confusion, dizziness, weak muscles, forgetfulness, Etc...I called the doctor and stop taking the medicine on Tuesday. Still feel terrible, no more swelling, still weak, confusion is better, no energy, just want to sleep.

I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that Atorvastatin effects usually last up to 72 hours.

But the adverse effects may need more time (up to weeks, depending on the individual metabolism) to disappear.

So, I would just recommend you to be a little patient and wait for a spontaneous recovery.

Taking plenty of fluids may be helpful!

But, in my opinion there is nothing to worry about! Your situation will improve in the next days.

Hope to have been helpful!

Wishing all the best,

Dr. Iliri
