How Long Do Sperms Live Once They Reach Vaginal Opening?
Question: Ultrasound error. Hello. I had my 6 week 4 day ultrasound with my wife a while back they put the date of conception on January 25th. But the last time we had sex was January 20th. Is it possible the ultrasound date is off by only 5 days? I've read sperm can live 5-7 days but that is also on the unlikely side. I dont know how true that is but can someone help me out?

I read your question and i understand your concern. Sperms can live for upto 72 to 96 hours. And once fertilizing the ovum it takes a day or two more for the zygote to reach the uterus and conceive in the wall of it. So i don't see any discrepancy if the first trimester ultrasound is pointing towards 25 as LMP as that is per the calculation of the age of the embryo / fetus and is more reliable. PS the dates of just 5 days difference doesn't matter any way because at the end we delay the delivery from 38 to 40 weeks of gestation and some times a week or two more to give the baby time to mature completely.
Nutshell, it could be ultrasound error it could be last time conception. What ever it is does not matter as it does not affect the outcome.
