Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

Your doctor started you on the cephalexin for treatment of a likely infection. Infection can cause swelling and redness of the leg and foot. It may take a few days for the antibiotic to fully take effect and for the symptoms to improve.

Something you can do that is important and helpful is to elevate your leg is much as possible when you are otherwise not walking around. This should help facilitate slow and gradual improvement the swelling.

However, if the swelling continues or worsens or if you developed fever or chills then you should contact your doctor for further instructions and a possible follow-up exam.

thank you again for sending your question.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
