After oral administration, this drug start causing its effect within an hour and maximum plasma concentration is achieved from 2 to 8 hours. After this, its concentration starts decreasing. It is metabolized in liver and excreted in urine.
It normally stays up to 48 hours in the system but clinical effect is usually over after 8 hours of administration and therefore requires repeated dose.
