How Long Does Hematoma On Cheekbone Take To Resolve?
Question: I had a fall and hurt my left cheekbone very badly resulting in swelling and haematoma. It is now almost 6 weeks and although the swelling has come down quite a bit, it is still pretty bad with dark clot patches. I apply Reparil Gel daily. I also applied some ice patches for a couple of days.

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. As there is blood clot formation, clearance will take longer.
2. Heparin gel application will help it clear faster. The clot formation is below the skin, and no other therapy is possible.
3. It will take upto 3 months for it to reduce, depending on size of bruise/ clot formed beneath skin. Continue with heparin gel application. Due to age, reduced circulation and reduced immunity, it will be slow. Also take Vit C and protein supplements to hasten healing.
If cosmetic problem, you can try mild makeup to reduce its color. Nothing much can be done for now. It has to heal itself and you can help through heparin gel, good hydration, vit c and protein supplements.
Ice patches, will help in reducing swelling, but not hematoma. Hematoma lysis will take time.
