How Long Does Immunity Last After Receiving Tetanus Injection?
Question: My wife has got a small cut in her finger yesterday from a iron wire and I wanted to take her for a tetanus injection. Wire was not rusted but I still thought of giving it just to be on safer side.
She took 2 dose of tetanus when she was pregenent almost a year ago. We have 10 month old kid now.
My question is on what should be the duration between tetanus injection?
Since she has taken it year back, is it still advised to take it now?

Brief Answer:
Duration of immunity after tetanus toxoid is variable.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX welcome to Health care magic,
Duration of immunity after tetanus toxoid is variable.
Absolute protection is there for six months and relative protection up to one year.
Since a year has passed, I would advise a tetanus toxoid shot to be on the safe side.
And try to take it within 48 hours of the injury.
You can revert back to me.
Regards
