How Long Does It Take For Viagra To Start Working?
Question: I had a prescription for Viagra (50 mg.) but it had little effect. My Dr. approved my increasing to 100 mg. and that works pretty good, but is terribly expensive at more than $100 per 100 mg. dose. The Dr. has now given me a prescription for 10 mg. tablets of Cialis, cautioning me to NOT double up that dosage as I did with the Viagra. I understand that Cialis lasts longer than the few hours that Viagra remained effective, but how should I space out the 10 mg. dosage of Cialis? No closer than once every 2 days, every 3 days, or what? Also, I took the Viagra an hour and a half to two hours before having sex. How far in advance of the sexual activity should I take the Cialis? (BTW - I am 79 years old and will turn 80 in May - still loving sex and having it as often as possible.)

Thank you for your prompt response. I am subject to "rather impromptu sexual events" since I do not have a spouse and must rely on occasional "friends" who are willing to help me remain "happy".
I do have a question just to clarify your answer to my question regarding the frequency/closeness of doses. Are you saying that the 10 mg dos is actually a "time release" dos of approximately 2.5 mg per day, or do you mean that I should take a 2.5 mg dose each day and the 10 mg dos every 4 days?

Sorry for not being clear enough, what I meant was that if you do take 10 mg of Cialis, the medication's effect should last for about 4 days, which breaks it down to around 2.5 mg being used each day. This was just for a break up, and I was not asking you to take 2.5 mg per day.
If you take 10 mg of cialis, you should feel its effect last for about 4 days. So it would be best to take the next dose, not earlier than 4 days from the last dose.
