How Long Does It Take To Recover From UTI?

Question: Good evening sir, my son has completed 6 months. One month ago, he had UTI ( E.coli growth greater than 100000) with fever 100 degree. Dr gave ceftriaxone IV injection for 5 days and oral Paracep and Cefixime after IV for 5 days. Fever gone immediately after giving first day of ceftriaxone. He is active now no problem. After 10 days Dr advised me to take urine culture again in addition to USG abdomen. Again, his urine culture test result shows E.coli growth again (greater than 100000). But USG abdomen came normal. Now, Dr gave Urifast for 7 days (3 mL 3 times a day). But whenever I give Urifast, he vomits immediately. I'm giving Nanpro along with BF, but for the past few days, he don't like to drink Nanpro also but wants to BF. Now sometimes head, palm and feet are warm but when I checked with thermometer, it shows 97.3 to 98 F. Pls suggest me what I should do and pls also reply why his infection does not cure yet. I look forward to hearing from you for your valuable suggestions and advice. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
urinary infection can be difficult to treat
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us Usually urinary tract infection may not settle with one course of antibiotics.
It may need repeated courses if infection load is high like in your child.
But don't worry.
USG abdomen is normal.
Continue current treatment.
Repeat test after the course is over.
Ensure he drinks plenty of liquids.
Wishing your son good health.
