Tobacco cigarettes, hence the cotinine blood test. It has been a few years since I partook in any other sunstances. Just tobacco, and I was nervous about the cotinine showing. It was 8.5 days between last cigarette and the blood test.
Brief Answer:
The cotinine blood test might pick up on those cigarettes.
Detailed Answer:
A blood cotinine test may pick up those cigarettes you had 8-9 days before the test. People's metabolisms vary, but usually it takes 2 or more weeks for the blood continine to be as low as someone who does not use tobacco. (And it takes even longer for the level to drop in urine tests.)
So it is possible for the cotinine blood test to pick up on those 5 cigarettes.
