Hi dear,

Itching and rash is usually relieved by the 2nd or 3rd days after applying permethrin.
Persistent itching after this indicate either treatment failure or re-infestation.
Note that,some important things are to be followed for proper response and preventing re-infestation:
1)The cream should reach the entire skin surface throughout the body,with special attention to inter trigenous ares.
2)The cream should remain there for a minimum 12 hours before washing.
3)Preferably,all members in a household should apply the cream simultaneously.
4)All clothes should be machine washed using very hot water and dried for at least 20 minutes in a hot dryer.
5)Brushes and combs should be soaked in hot soapy water for 10 minutes.
6)Rugs and upholstered furniture should be vacuumed.

If these were not taken care of,you can apply the cream once more.
Meanwhile,use antihistamines like Levocetirezine 5 mg once daily for 5 days to relieve itching(note that this can cause some sedation).
