How Long Does Valium Stay In Body That Will Show Up In A Urine Test?

Posted on Wed, 8 Apr 2015
Question: Hi, I have been using a valium suppositoty for 2 years on and off for pelvic pain, I used it maybe 1-2 times a month. I've stopped completely this entire month. I notice I always look and feel as if I am on valium. WIll this go away? Why hasn't the feeling of being on valium gone away yet? How long does it take to leave your system? I feel like I look worn out too as if I am on too many medicines, although I only use the valium when needed.

Thank you, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Explained phenomenon or effect of other meds you are on XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Valium (with the active ingredients diazepam) is usually absorbed very quickly into the body, and the same is with its distribution through the body as well. Valium can stay in an individuals body for a few days (although not more than a week.

But it has been noted over time with frequent or long term users that an active metabolite of valium (component of the valium breakdown) can start having a prolonged action and even start accumulating in the body resulting in an action seen over longer periods of time.

In conclusion, I would say that the cause for your presentation is either the above explained phenomenon or an effect of the other medications that you mentioned you are on. If you wish, I could go through the other medications you are on and let you know if the presentation you are experiencing could be because of them.

I hope you find my response both helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help you ma'am.

Best wishes.

Thank you. I am actually not taking any other medications. If I stop taking it completely, will overtime the valium stop producing in my body? That is very concerning to me.

Brief Answer:
Yes, over time the stored valium shall be excreted, but may take time

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

It is good to know that you are not on any other medications.

If you discontinue valium completely, then over time all the stores valium in the body will be used up and you should soon be free of the effects of valium, but please know that this may take some time and so I would recommend regular mild forms of exercise and plenty of water.

Best wishes ma'am :)
