How Long Should Clexane Injections Be Taken During Pregnancy?
Question: Hi,
My wife is 23rd week 2 day pregnant. She is taking clexane 40 mg from 14th week onwards everyday. She had a ectopic pregnancy history in the month/year- dec/2012. The injections are taken on the stomache and its getting painful now a days. Can we stop this injection now, or any date in near future. This injection was suggested after our doc found that lupus coagulant a bit high, though not crossing the thresholds.

Clenaxe 40 contains low molecular weight heparin.
It is usually recommend in women who are having risk of miscarriage or stillbirth due to coagulation abnormalities.
Usually it should be continued till 35 to 36 weeks of pregnancy.
After that drug can be changed.
Stopping the drug in the middle of the treatment can lead to complications like intrauterine death etc.
So, better to continue with your doctor's advice.
Better to use fine needle, change the needle for every injection and change the site of injection every time.
She can take foamentation at the site of injection after 12 hours of giving the injection.
