How Long Should Norco Be Taken For Pain Management After A TKR?

Question: I had a total right knee replacement on XXXXXXX 21. The only problem I had during the surgery was coming out of anesthesia. I then 2 1/2 days later got a raging case of cellulitis. I've been on Narco and Ultram for the pain. My doctor is reluctant to give me a refill of the Norco. What is a normal period of time to be on Norco for pain?
Not a question. I noticed that my husbands name is on this. My name is XXXXXXX and I'm asking for myself.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.
Prescription opioids after surgical procedures should not be used for more than a week, and certainly not for more than 2 weeks. Studies show that after this amount of time, pain does not decrease, but actually increases as the body habituates to the medication. So, trust your doctor, as he is making the right decision.
