How Long Should I Wait To Conceive Again After Irregular Periods Followed By A Miscarriage?

Question: Hello - I was almost 12 weeks when I found out I experienced a missed miscarriage (baby stopped growing at 8 weeks). I had a D&C on April 10th and got my 1st period 28 days following the procedure. I have always spotted a few days before my period (this time I did as well) and it typically lasts about 3 days. This 1st period after the D&C I had no cramps and was only about 2 days (lighter than previous). Does that mean my uterine lining is too thin? Also how long do you recommend trying to conceive again? I have heard/read so many different opinions from starting right away to waiting 1, 2, or even 3 cycles. And how long after a D&C does it take for the uterine lining to build back up enough to sustain a pregnancy? We have been TTC for over a year and were devastated by this loss. We are very anxious to try again - I feel good, my period came back right on track (just a little shorter/lighter than normal) but I'm nervous it will happen again if I try again too soon. Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Following abortion, next 1-2 cycles may be irregular but after that, period becomes normal as like previous in most women. Therefore, one should start to plan for conceiving after 3 cycles at least after regularization of period. Since your periods were well on time it will take 1-2 cycles for the endoetrium to build up normally to sustain a pregnancy.

You should calculate ovulation time that occurs approx 14 days before next due date. Ovulation prediction kit is also very much helpful in context to predict ovulation and you should prepare for that day for unprotected sex for highest possibility of pregnancy.

In these 3 months, you may take folic acid & vitamin E supplements with healthy diet.

Do some basic things also to improve fertility:
1) Avoid stress by yoga/deep breathing regularly (20-30 times).
2) Drink plenty of fluids/water and eat leafy vegetables & fruits.
3) Control body weight by regular physical exercise.
4) Maintain personal hygiene and need proper sleeping.
