How Long Should Strenuous Activities Be Avoided While Having Treatment For Thrombosis?
Question: I had venous doppler scan yesterday and I have a small gartocnemius clot. I am taking shots for 5 days and started on wayfarin for 3 months but my question is what should my activity level be?
Brief Answer:
Strenuous activity and blood stasis to be avoided
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
You are on the right treatment for the thrombosis. It would dissolve and disappear soon. Once it dissolves completely, you can involve in any activity which doesn't cause trauma. Till it dissolves there's a chance of it getting dislodged and embolising to the lung. Therefore it is better to avoid very strenous activities till then.
If you have long travel, make sure you move the legs to avoid stasis of blood.
