Finger prick test for random blood sugar is instantaneous.After putting drop of blood on card,monitor detects it and value is displayed in machine.
But,it is less accurate than laboratory methods but it is very helpful in screening.
Laboratory machines need time for warmup during starting period and also it is operated when certain number of samples are collected ,so it may take 2-3 hours depending upon diagnostic centre.
