How Safe In Oxycodone For Pain Management Post A Neck Surgery?
Question: I had neck surgery Dec 1st to the back of my neck. A rod , screws, and 2 plates to repair C3,4 an 5. How long is it safe to be on Oxycodone 15mg without the possibility of addiction?
Brief Answer:
Tolerance develops as the body gets used to the drug
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through your query. However, I find a slight error in the concept. Oxycodone (or other opioids) can be taken for significantly long time. But as time goes, the body gets used to it and a tolerance is developed. Hence the previous doses are no longer sufficient and higher doses are required for the same action. That is what is referred to as addiction. There is no particular time frame for development of 'addiction'.
I hope that I have been able to explain you the concept.
