How Soon After Sex Can HIV Test Be Done?

Question: How soon after sex can I get the HIV DNA Qualitative PCR test? I recently had sex and the condom broke, do you feel like I am at high risk? As soon as we realized the condom broke we put on a fresh one. My concern is I know nothing about this man.

Dear Ms
PCR test for HIV can be done as early as 1 week after potential exposure. Negative test conclusively rules out HIV infection. Combination of P 24 antigen assay and PCR are more recommend when testing is done earlier.
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Take care

Thank for your response. Since the condom broke, do you feel like I could be a high risk case?
Brief Answer:
There is potential risk
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Dear Ms
Break in condom has definitely exposed you to potential risk. The risk is comparatively less as compared to coming in contact with Semen.
When was the exposure ? If the status of the individual is not known then it definitely calls for consideration of starting PEP.
