Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I went through the query and understood your concern.
Diabetes control is by multiple approach.
1. Diet and exercise.
2 . Medications
With your FBS being 145, kindly check for post prandial sugar level (2 hours after break fast) and HbA1c level. This will help us for choosing the drug appropriate for you. HbA1c level tell us about your sugar values in past 3-4 months.
For my patients when first diagnosed as diabetes I advice diet control with adequate calories intake per day based on your physical activity and BMI along with 30min exercise per day for 5 days a week. This has major role in controlling the sugar levels and also to prevent resistance to the drugs.
Drugs based on the investigations report we need to fix.
Other than sugar values check for your lipid profile(tells about your cholesterol), liver function and kidney function tests. Retinal examination is also required once. These are to ruleout any pathology and also help in selecting the drugs. For your age and recent onset of diabetes these may be normal.
Kindly get back with the investigation report for sugar levels along with your weight, height, any history of recent loss of weight and other comorbidities. This will help in selecting the proper drug for you.
I hope this information helps you. I will be waiting for your reply.
Feel free to ask if any further queries or information. I will be glad to answer them.
Wish you good health.
Regards
