How To Determine The Due Date And Date Of Conception Using Ultrasound?

Question: Hi doc
I had my ultrasound done on July 3, which say 8 week 1 day old. My first date of my last menstrual period is April 24, 2015
1) does the 8 week 1 day old per ultrasound meaning "gestational age" or " fetal age"?
The technician does not specify and only reply that there is a chart to compute the date of conception.
2) per my blood test did on XXXXXXX 9, I was told that I was at my 4 the week. So my doc was very confirmed that I must have conceived in the week of May 10-16.
3) with the above info, what would be by due date and conception date?
Many thanks

Brief Answer:
Date of delivery 31st January 2016
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
The age mentioned in ultrasound is usually gestational age unless mentioned otherwise.
So by your periods the gestation is 10 weeks and ultrasound shows 8 weeks.
There is usually a discrepancy of 10-14 days between date by ultrasound and last period.
But dictum is if the periods were regular and you are sure of your dates then we calculate according to the last period date.
So you definitely conceived somewhere between 10-16 may and according to the last period date of 24th April your expected date of delivery is 31st January 2016.
All the best.

Thank you doc.
I am at a 35 day cycle and always start ovulated on the 17th day, being May 10. However, I now recall that the technician said that the due date is Feb 11, 2016.
1)Would that change my conception date?
2) from which date, does the technician calculate to get to feb 11, 2016?
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
No dead it is common to have discrepancy between ultrasound and period date calculation but that doesn't change anything and rather dates will stay the same.
Your final last date of delivery will be 31st January only and gestational age will be calculated based on 24th April making 10th may the day of ovulation and conception.
No issues about it and you will see that in further ultrasound evaluation also there will be a lot of variation and there will always be a difference of a few days between ultrasound date and gestational age calculation.
