default
Posted on Wed, 18 May 2016
Question: How much does this cost?
I have previously been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia. But recently, my bones hurt so bad, my joints are slightly swollen and a friend said it looks like osteo arthritis. How can I differentiate?
PS my friend was a nurse.

Brief Answer:
Pain is localised in osteoarthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Osteoarthritis is often confused with fibromyalgia and may at times occur concurrently with the syndrome. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that is responsible for causing intense joint pain and stiffness.
Overlapping symptoms include muscle pain, limited range of motion, as well as stiffness in the morning. If you have fibromyalgia, it is likely that you will experience more widespread pain. Osteoarthritis pain tends to be localized to the area of the joint or joints affected.
With fibromyalgia syndrome, symptoms such as the following commonly occur together
Anxiety
Depression
Tender points
Widespread pain
Incapacitating fatigue
Decreased pain threshold
