How To Get Rid Of Acne And Oily Skin?
Treatment would be guided by severity of acne
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern.
Treatment of acne is guided by the severity of acne.
Topical treatment for acne consists of topical antibacterials like clindamycin, nadifloxacin; topical benzoyl peroxide; topical retinoids e.g adapalene.
Oral treatment comprises oral antibiotics like doxycycline, minocycline, azithromycin etc and Oral retinoids e.g Isotretinoin for the severest type of acne.
For mild acne (mainly comedones and occasional inflammatory acne) topical treatment is enough. However for moderate acne (a significant number of inflammatory lesions are present) to severe grade (nodular or cystic acne) of acne Oral treatment in the form of Oral antibiotics and/ Or Oral Isotretinoin is required in addition to topical treatment.
For oily skin I would suggest a salicylic acid based cleanser.
I would like to know how severe is your acne problem?whether it is mild, moderate or severe grade acne?
What all treatments have you tried previously?and response to treatment?
Regards
Last year I had visited a Doctor in XXXXXXX on 22nd July 2014 (last year). And she suggested me below:
A-Derma Foaming Gel
Sensiphase Cream
I have been using for quite a long time. Sometime I do skip. But bit regular in using A-Derma Foaming Gel. I am not satisfied with the results of the usage.
Currently I have moderate acne. Acne come & go. But leave scar on face. Which is worst. I am sad with the scars over my face.
Sometimes I do feel irritation on face & my face gets some tiny dots dots (not acne).
Oral and topical antiacne preparations
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
You seem to have sensitive skin.
The cream and gel that you have been using are not specific treatments for acne. One out of these is a gentle cleanser (A derma foaming gel) and the other one is an anti-redness cream (Sensiphase cream).
Though I suggest you to continue with the cleanser, however, you may discontinue with sensiphase cream. Creams are usually oily and can cause acne.
In case of moderate acne, such as in your case, I would normally suggest a course of an Oral antibiotic e.g Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 2-4 weeks.
Topically I would suggest clindamycin 1% gel to be used once during day on acne affected area for 2- 4 weeks.
At night I would suggest you to use adapalene 0.1% gel over the whole of acne affected area as a thin film. It would be effective for acne as well as help lighten post acne marks/ spots.
