How To Get Rid Of Chicken Pox Spots On The Face?

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016
Question: I am a 25-year-old man and have recently contracted chicken pox. I wish to have a shower or bath but am unsure about what to wash with especially my hair as I have rash in my hair also. I would also like to know what would cause scarring as I have blisters on my face? And how much time it takes to cure permanently ? Any medicine that can help most of people saying not to use medicine or take bath.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Advice regarding Chicken pox

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist).

Chicken pox lesions may affect the scalp, face a well as trunk.
You may take a shower as well as use a soap on body. You can also shampoo your hair gently. However do take care that you dont scratch or pick the lesions specially on face as that may cause scaring.
Chicken pox rash may last for upto a week or 10 days before the lesions start to dry up and crust. Treatment with antivirals is usually recommended in adults as it cuts short the episode and hastens recovery e.g Valacyclovir 1gm thrice a day for 1week.
