Hi XXXXXXX
Thank you for query.I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
It is not clear about the areas involved in your foot, the diabetic status or any other disease status.
There are many causes for fungal infections to occur.
Moisture precipitates infection. It may be due to tight wearing shoes, work in moist environments, sweat retention etc.
Some diseases like diabetes immunosupressed conditions will aggravate the infections and healing will be delayed.
Following measures have to be taken
Avoid tight fitting shoes. Can wear sandals instead.
Change socks daily at least.wear absorbent socks.
Avoid any moisture precipitating conditions.
Dusting antifungal powders like clotrimazole can be used.
Keep even interdigital areas dry and clean
Topical antifungals like clotrimazole or terbinafine can be used if milder.
Keratolytics like salicylic acid may also be used in combination.
Oral antifungals terbinafine can be used if severe and non responding or recurrent.
Please keep diabetes if any under control.
Stop any unnecessary immunosupressives
Usually they are recurrent.Maintainence is more important to prevent recurrence.
You can get back if any further clarification required.
Thank you.
