Brief Answer:
Symptoms of Hypothyroidism

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Good day. Noted your concern and i am sorry to hear about your symptoms. Since you had most of the thyroid removed, you will need replacement lifelong. The best way is to take Levothyroxine ( synthroid). Could you please tell me what symptoms did you have while on synthroid?

Your TSH was high even 3 weeks ago. This means that the replacement dose was not enough. Once you stopped treatment, TSH went up further to 104. Now you may feel constipated, lot of gas in stomach, tired, sleepy and bloated up with swelling over face and body. These are symptoms of hypothyroidism.

Armour thyroid is a animal thyroid extract and it is not really recoommended. It can cause allergic reactions .

The best way is to restart Levothyroxine. May i know your weight ( in Kg) ? This will be helpful to calculate the dose.

Kind regards
Binu

thank you for your response. my height if 5'4" approx 130 pounds. I have no swelling am not tired however for the first time I am constipated no stomach gas however ribs sometimes hurt. been diagnosted with hashimotos. could the binders in levothyroxine be causing my systems of nervousness, tremors in left hand, dryness of skin, hair falling out and itchy skin. since being off of everything I have no symptoms I do not get it. I am on a good diet, protein, fruits, vegs, no sugar, no coffee, no grains no gluten. this perplexes me. I do not know which to medication to get on as when I read the ingredients to all they make me wonder what is going on for example how does the ingredient talc in synthroid help my thyroid or in nature thyroid I can't even pronounce half of what is in it and the same with synthroid and with levothyroxine? why is there not a natural clean substitute?
thank you

Brief Answer:
No natural substitute

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for the reply. So you are around 59 kilos ( 130 pounds). This means you require around 95 mcg levothyroxine(synthroid) a day. You could take 100 mcg ( Monday to Saturday) and 50 mcg on Sunday.
Synthroid contain levothyroxine which is an active thyroid hormone. Hence it helps to correct the hypothyroidism.

The tremors in hands and nervousness could have been due to over replacement of levothyroxine. We calculate the dose based on body weight and I feel, the above mentioned dose would be just good for you.

Unfortunately, plants/herbs do not have much thyroid hormone and we have to use either bioengineered version ( synthroid) or animal derived thyroid hormone ( armour thyroid). Eating a healthy diet alone may not have much effect in improving the thyroid function. In your case, you do not have much of the thyroid gland now. So diet may not play a big role.

It is a fact that, despite being on an adequate dose of levothyroxine( synthroid) and T4 being in normal range, many patients continue to complain of many symptoms of hypothyroidism. This is a bitter truth. Scientists are working on it and research is going on in that area.

Regards
Binu
