How To Keep Diabetes Under Control?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: Hi,
I am 37 and was diagnosed with Diabetes an year ago and I am currently taking Glizid 40 tabs twice (before breakfast and dinner) everyday. But I am having multiple bowel movements everyday as a side effect which is causing lot of embarrassment during work days. Before Glizid, I was on Metformin and Amaryl both of which caused diarrhea. All these tabs control my diabetes to around 120-130 (on 12 hrs fasting ) levels but with side effects. Do you have any suggestions of alternate therapies to control my diabetes without side effects.

Brief Answer:
You try sitagliptin and metforrmin combination

Detailed Answer:
Dear sir, greetings... I understand your concern ... both metformin and gliclazide are safe.. Gastro-intestinal disturbances are quite rare in people using these drugs ... even then few might have these side effects...

You can try sitagliptin and metformin combination after discussing with your treating doctor ... gliptins is new class of drugs and well accepted with metformin. you can take metformin alone at night... and gliptins in the morning ... are your glucose levels are in control anyway your HbA1c levels are also ok, ... better to keep <6.5.... Meet your doctor for fixing the dose and combinations.

I agree, every doctor I visit says that Gastro-intestinal disturbances are quite rare in people using these drugs. Generally I am not allergic to anything and I don't smoke or alcoholic but still have these side effects with almost every diabetic medication I am having.

Do you think any lifestyle changes or any other precautions might help me with these side effects?

Thanks.

Yes lifestyle changes do work...

Dear Sir, I understand your problems... You need to try lifestyle changes surly it works ... Try yoga, pranayama s, meditation ... Sometimes too much of stress also leads to irritable bowel... Tryvandvfimd ways to relax ... Go for a long walk ... Take small meals in between small amount of dry carbohydrates like biscuits.... Try gliptins with metformin as gliptins are the new class of drugs with better acceptance... NO WAY, YOU SHOULD NOT MISS THE DOSE...
