Question: I am a kidney transplant, how do I loose weight? Cannot exercise.

Hello,

first of all why can't you exercise? Do you have orthopedic or neurological problems? Renal transplantation is no reason to avoid exercise. On the contrary mild exercise (walking) is helpful!

Also, before everything else you should check with your doctor whether your increased weight can be attributed to medical conditions or not. For example thyroid disease or adrenal problems.

If you really can't (for any reason) do some sort of exercise then the only thing you can do is to manage food intake. The best thing you can do is to visit a dietitian for an individualized nutrition plan. Reducing the total caloric intake is the target. A general rule to follow until you visit the dietitian is to avoid food with high caloric content like fatty food, oil, butter, pies and excessive carbohydrate consumption. Try to include a fresh salad in every meal (without sauce of any kind), reduce bread consumption, avoid alcohol, remove the visible part of fat in a piece of meat, remove the skin (which is full of fat), etc

I can't provide you with a detailed plan obviously but I've presented you some of the basic ideas you can implement regarding your food plan.
